  • The word "Kerala Piravi" translates to "Birth of Kerala", indicating the significance of this day.
  • This is the day that marks the establishment of the state of Kerala as a separate entity on November 1, 1956.
    • The state of Kerala was formed by merging the former states of Travancore-Cochin with Malabar district and Kasargod taluk of South Canara district.
    • This important event marked the end of the political and administrative system of feudal states in Kerala and the beginning of a new era of democratic governance.
