Why in the news?

Recently, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the establishment of an autonomous body ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ (MY Bharat).

About ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’:

• This body named Mera Yuva Bharat will be launched on National Unity Day on October 31, 2023.
• The ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ platform will be dedicated to the nation on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (on 31st October).
• This body will act as a comprehensive enabling mechanism driven by technology for youth development and youth led development.
• This institution will provide equal access to youth to realize their aspirations and build a developed India across the entire spectrum of government, and will also create a centralized youth database.
•  However, there will be no financial remuneration involved.

Objective:

• The objective of this platform is to provide suitable opportunities to the youth to engage in voluntary work in the field of their choice and seek such opportunities across the country.
•  Making it a whole government platform for youth development.

features:

• In line with the definition of youth in the National Youth Policy, the autonomous body will benefit youth in the age group of 15-29 years.
• The components of this program are specifically designed for adolescents, the beneficiaries of which will be adolescents in the age group of 10-19 years.
• Under the new system, with access to resources and connection to opportunities, youth will become community change agents and nation builders.
• This will allow them to act as youth bridges between the government and citizens.
• It wants to harness the immense youth energy for nation building.

Importance of ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’

 (MY Bharat)

• Leadership development among youth: To focus government attention on youth-led development and make youth “active drivers” of development, not just “passive recipients”.
• ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ (MY Bharat) will focus on youth-led development.
• Better coordination between youth aspirations and community needs.
• To increase the efficiency of youth by integrating existing programs.
• To act as a one stop shop for young people and ministries.
• Creating a centralized youth database.
• Improve two-way communication to link youth government initiatives and the activities of other stakeholders who engage with youth.
• Ensuring accessibility while building a physical ecosystem.
