Why in News:

  • Recently, the Union Cabinet has approved the 'PM Vishwakarma' scheme.

key points:

  • The scheme was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2023 from Red Fort.
  • Through this scheme, financial help will be given to the small workers of the country.
  • The scheme will be launched on September 17, 2023, on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti.
  • Under this scheme, small workers will be given loans and training, advance technology information, skill related training.
  • An amount of Rs 13,000 crore has been approved for this scheme between the years 2023-24 to 2027-28.
  • Under this scheme, a loan of up to one lakh rupees will be given to the artisans at an interest of 5%.
  • 30 lakh artisan families will get the benefit of this scheme.
  • The scheme includes blacksmiths, potters, masons, washermen, flower workers, fish net weavers, locksmiths, sculptors etc.

About PM Vishwakarma Yojana:
